Seminar « Multimodal 3D measurement » by Dr. Peter Kühnstedt (Fraunhofer IOF Jena – EMIMEP associated partner)

Dr Peter Kühnstedt (Fraunhofer IOF Jena – EMIMEP associated partner) delivered a seminar entitled « Multimodal 3D measurement » on December 12th, 2024.

Abstract. In the framework of Jena’s traditional “Photonics4Future Lecture Series”, he delivered a special lecture on multimodal 3D measurement. The rapid advancement of industrial automation, digital twin generation, and advanced metrology demands measurement systems that go beyond conventional single-modality 3D scanning. At Fraunhofer IOF, we address this challenge through multimodal 3D measurement — an integrated approach combining high-resolution 3D shape acquisition with complementary sensing modalities such as spectral imaging, thermal mapping, and tactile/optical fusion.
