« RF Transmitter Chain From Measurement Analysis to System Simulation » with AMCAD Engineering

« On the 5th and 6th of February 2025, the second academic year students of the EMIMEP Master’s program had the opportunity to enhance our skills through a highly specialized training session led by the AMCAD Engineering team. During these two days, we were introduced to the development of their simulation software, VISION, which precisely models the complex interactions between all the components in a communication channel.

In the first part of the training, we employed this computer-aided design (CAD) approach to accurately predict the electrical properties of individual components, as well as the overall behavior of real microwave systems.

In the second part of the training, we focused on state-of-the-art instrumentation techniques to ensure the correct operation and full characterization of both passive components (such as filters, couplers, and circulators) and active components (such as transistors and low-noise amplifiers). We were taught how to calibrate and operate vector network analyzers, perform two-tone measurements, handle modulated signals, and conduct load-pull impedance sweeps, among other techniques.

These two days were intense and stimulating, filled with questions, exchanges of ideas, and hands-on practice.

In summary, we are grateful for the time, patience, and guidance provided by the AMCAD Engineering team, and we look forward to future opportunities to collaborate. »
