Dr Andrea Marino (Coherent) delivered a seminar on April 08, 2025, entitled « LASER: a Colorful World of Opportunities » at the University of Brescia.

Abstract. The seminar “LASER: a Colorful World of Opportunities » is designed to inspire Master and PhD students, as well Postdocs from scientific backgrounds to recognize the diverse range of possibilities their technical degrees can offers. Using laser technology as a prime example, and structured into two distinctive parts, we will discuss how foundational knowledge in science and specialized expertise can unlock myriad opportunities across academia and industry.

Bio. Andrea Marino holds a PhD in Ultrafast Laser Physics and has been working in the laser industry since 2016. He began his career at Coherent as a Field Service Engineer, managing installations and customer support for Ultrafast Laser Systems across EMEA. From 2020 to 2022, he transitioned into a Market Development Manager role, focusing on Industrial Laser Machines in Southern France and Italy. Since 2022, he has been the Sales Manager for Scientific and Instrumentation in Italy, driving business growth and supporting research advancements. In addition to his industry role, he has been coaching Master’s and PhD students on how to leverage their technical expertise and effectively position themselves in the job market.

In 2023, he expanded his passions by launching a barbecue academy dedicated to meat cooking, teaching in professional Cooking High Schools and in 2025, he started a podcast on Soptify and Youtube focused on barbecue culture and techniques.
