Anca CONSTANTINESCU (Technical University of Cluj-Napoca – EMIMEP associated partner) delivered a workshop entitled « Phase Shift Happens: Predistortion of Power Amplifiers » at the University of the Basque Country (Spain) during our 2025 Summer School on August 27th, 2025.

Abstract. “Coaching for Researchers” is a practical workshop designed to equip early-career researchers with essential tools in leadership, self-awareness, and collaborative communication. Participants will explore coaching principles that help them navigate the transition from student to professional, while also strengthening their ability to connect, lead, and grow within research teams and academic environments.

This session is interactive, hands-on, and built on proven coaching models adapted for the research context.
Key Topics & Outcomes
🔹 1. The Value of Coaching in the Early Research Career
We’ll begin by identifying the key benefits of coaching during the critical early stage of a research career. Participants will understand how coaching supports clarity, motivation, and resilience in the face of complex academic challenges.
🔹 2. The Propeller Method
Through the Propeller Model, participants will explore how adopting the mindset of a leader, manager, and coach—in equal measure—enables them to better influence outcomes, collaborate across disciplines, and enhance their professional development. This model brings structure and awareness to everyday decision-making in academia.
🔹 3. The Foundation: Self-Knowledge and Identity
Participants engage in guided exercises exploring their values, skills, dreams, and goals. Using psychological imagery and reflection tools, they will increase their self-awareness and build the inner foundation for impactful leadership and career alignment.
🔹 4. Group Communication and Building Trust
Participants learn and practice how to establish psychological safety, communicate authentically in teams, and master active listening. We also explore: What makes a question powerful? and how to use coaching questions to spark insight and openness in peers and supervisors.

What Participants Will Gain
✅ A toolbox of coaching techniques to use immediately in team settings
✅ Practical experience with self-discovery methods that clarify direction and motivation
✅ Communication tools that build trust and improve collaboration
✅ A new awareness of how to coach and lead from any position
