Guided tour of XLIM Research Institute

The guided tour of XLIM research institute was organized for the students of the EMIMEP 2025 intake on 20 January, 2026. The tour began with a detailed introduction to the multidisciplinary laboratory by one of the Deputy Directors of XLIM, Agnès Desfarges-Berthelemot. The introduction covered the various departments at XLIM, the locations of laboratory facilities, and the institute’s achievements, inspiring students to consider XLIM for their future research journey.

After the introduction, students were divided into teams, with each team escorted by a PhD student from XLIM. Each team followed a different schedule and visited various labs. In every lab, researchers provided a brief overview of the ongoing research activities.

As the lab facilities like cleanroom, optical fiber drawing tower, and anechoic chamber for antenna characterization are closely related to the core topics of the program, students showed great enthusiasm. They interacted with the researchers to understand how theoretical concepts are applied to achieve groundbreaking innovations.

The tour ended with a networking session, which offered students an opportunity to interact with Professors, PhD students and students from other program tracks in a relaxed and informal setting. Overall, the event helped students gain insight into the wide range of research opportunities available at XLIM and allowed them to learn firsthand about research life through interactions with current PhD students.
