European Microwave Week 2024: A Student’s Perspective

The European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2024 in Paris was a place where professionals and students alike converged to share innovative ideas, gain knowledge, and network. As an EMIMEP student, I had the privilege of participating in this prestigious event, gaining insights into the microwave industry, and contributing as a student helper.

Volunteering and Teamwork

Volunteering as a student helper allowed me to join the event’s organizational backbone. Working with other students and the event team, I learned how to manage tasks, solve problems, and ensure smooth operations. This hands-on experience improved my teamwork and communication skills and made me feel great achievement.

Discovering Industry Leaders

The exhibition at EuMW was a spectacular display of advanced technology and engineering ingenuity. Meeting leading companies in the microwave field and learning about their specialities was so exciting. From advanced RF systems to next-generation components, the diversity of innovations was inspiring. These interactions not only expanded my technical knowledge but also helped me build valuable connections for my future career.

Learning from the Experts

A highlight of my experience was attending a design school on RFIC design methodology. This session introduced me to advanced techniques like the Inversion Coefficient, 5-parameter models, and ACM (Advanced Compact MOSFET) Models applied to Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) design. It was a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of RFIC design and its practical applications.

Takeaways from EuMW

EuMW 2024 was so much more than an event, it presented such an opportunity for personal and professional development. I learnt, networked and developed skills through collaboration and learning. My experience has inspired me to forge deeper into the field of microwaves and lead myself into a successful career in this very exciting field.

P.S. The Hidden Joys of EuMW

One of the unexpected highlights of the event? The food and coffee! We were treated to delicious French croissants and madeleines, and the free coffee kept us going throughout the day. Who knew networking and learning could taste so good?
